Color Consulting

Most paint decisions get made at the store, under fluorescent lights, against a white wall. Then the color goes up at home and something feels off — too cool, too flat, fighting with the trim.

Color is relational. It shifts with the light in your rooms, the undertones in your floors, the direction your windows face. Getting it right means looking at all of it together, in your space, at the right time of day.

That’s what this service is for.

How it works

The process

Visit one — 90 minutes

We walk your space together. I assess natural and artificial light, take stock of your fixed finishes, and narrow the field. You leave with a focused set of samples worth testing — not a pile of maybes.

Between visits

You live with the samples. I’ll send you an evaluation sheet that walks you through exactly what to look for, when to look, and how to read what you’re seeing — so the follow-up conversation is grounded in what actually happened in your space, not just a gut feeling.

Visit two — 30 minutes

We review what you’ve observed, make final calls, and close out any remaining questions. By the end, you have a palette you’re confident in.

Choosing color is one of the last decisions people make and one of the first things they second-guess. It looks simple until you’re holding twelve swatches that all seemed right at the store and now look like completely different colors on your wall.

The problem isn’t your eye. It’s that color doesn’t exist in isolation. A white that reads crisp and clean in a south-facing room can look dingy in a north-facing one. A warm greige that works beautifully with honey oak floors can pull yellow against painted millwork. Paint chips don’t tell you any of that.

I’ve been working with color in residential spaces for years — across renovations, refreshes, and everything in between. I know how light moves through a room over the course of a day, how undertones interact with materials you can’t change, and how to build a palette that holds together from room to room without feeling coordinated in an obvious way.

This consultation works whether you’re repainting a single room, choosing colors for a full renovation, or just moved in and need a place to start. The scope depends on what your home needs — we’ll sort that out together.

What you leave with: a focused set of tested paint samples, a clear palette, and the confidence to move forward without starting over.

Interior or exterior — or both

Interior and exterior color work the same way, but they can’t be done in the same visit — the light reads differently, the materials are different, and each needs its own evaluation window. Most clients book one or the other. Some do both, back to back or weeks apart.

Interior
$595
Two visits + evaluation sheet. Paint colors, wall finishes, and any material selections relevant to your space.
Exterior
$595
Two visits + evaluation sheet. Siding, trim, doors, and accent colors assessed in natural light.

Once you purchase, I’ll be in touch to schedule both visits at a time that works for both of us.
